Expa Game Business Co-operative and Digi & Game Center have been officially recognized as an Unreal Authorized Training Center by Epic Games. This marks a big milestone for Finland, as they become the country’s first—and the northernmost Unreal Authorized Training Center (UATC) in the world.

The recognition was achieved in collaboration with Fireframe Studios, a virtual production company founded by Mikko Kodisoja, co-founder of Supercell. Fireframe Studios specializes in real-time technologies like Unreal Engine, focusing on immersive storytelling and advanced in-camera visual effects (ICVFX), blending gaming and filmmaking.

A New Milestone for Finland’s Creative Industries

Since its founding in 2012, Expa Game Business Co-operative has played a pivotal role in supporting game startups, indie developers, and researchers in Central Finland. Together with the Digi & Game Center, launched in 2020, the organization has fostered innovation within Finland’s creative and technological industries.

As an UATC, Expa and Digi & Game Center are expanding their offerings beyond gaming to include training for professionals in industries such as film, architecture, automotive, healthcare, and education. Iltapäivän kohokohta oli tutustuminen Peliosuuskunta Expan projektiin, jonka tavoitteena on uusi teknologinen avaus Jyväskylään ja samalla koko Suomeen.– Projektilla voimme saada Keski-Suomeen katseita esimerkiksi Hollywood-studioilta, Startup Dayn alkusanat lausunut Tuomas Roininen toteaa.

 

Peliosuuskunta Expan varapuheenjohtaja Tuomas Roininen haluaa lisätä Jyväskylän pitovoimaa virallisella Unreal Engine -koulutuskeskuksella. Koulutuskeskuksessa voitaisiin kouluttaa huippuosaajia muun muassa elokuva-alalle, lääketieteeseen ja puolustusteollisuuteen.

We are organizing our own Prebit qualifying event, on Tuesday 23.4. At Digi & Game Center, with the monthly IGDA JKL Meetup event.

  • 16.40-17 Pitches
  • 17.30-18 Judges game testing, free game testing for participants

  • 18.30-18.45 Judges announce winners, give the basics for the choices and photos
  • 19.00 – IGDA Finland Jyväskylä Meetup speakers
  • 20.00 – 20.15 Demo booth disassembling, Judges stay to discuss with participants proceeding to finals

Expression of interest in Finland’s first Unreal Authorized Training Center (preliminary inquiry).

 

Peliosuuskunta Expa – Digi & Game Center with FireFrame and Epic Games are setting up Finland’s first Unreal Authorized Training Center.

 

Game development and cross industry disciplines would be led by Peliosuuskunta Expa – Digi & Game Center in Jyväskylä, Central Finland while the Movies and Virtual production branch would be led by FireFrame in Helsinki, Southern Finland.

 

The Courses could be done onsite or online, depending on the course.

 

We want to know:

  • Are you already using Unreal Engine?
  • Are you interested in changing to an Unreal Engine from another Engine?
  • Are you interested in further educating your own workforce?
  • Are you interested in becoming an Unreal Authorized Instructor?
  • Does someone in your company or association already have an Unreal Authorized Instructor licence?
  • Are you interested in being a part of an open ecosystem to have more visibility between companies, publishers and investors, B2B or education?
  • Are you interested in doing business across different industries and disciplines?

 

And this does not have to be game industry related, it can be anything, whatever you use the software for, please do share the love.
